OUR APPROACH
A variety of concepts, models and principles drawn from the behavioral sciences, management literature, spiritual traditions and/or the arts and humanities, may be incorporated into the coaching conversation in order to increase the individuals self-awareness and awareness of others, foster shifts in perspective, promote fresh insights, provide new frameworks for looking at opportunities and challenges, and energize and inspire the individuals forward actions.
Appreciative Approach
Coaching incorporates an appreciative approach. The appreciative approach is grounded in whats right, whats working, whats wanted, and whats needed to get there. Using an appreciative approach, the coach models constructive communication skills and methods the individual or team can utilize to enhance personal communication effectiveness.
The appreciative approach incorporates discovery-based inquiry, proactive (as opposed to reactive) ways of managing personal opportunities and challenges, constructive framing of observations and feedback in order to elicit the most positive responses from others, and envisioning success as contrasted with focusing on problems. The appreciative approach is simple to understand and employ, but its effects in harnessing possibility thinking and goal- oriented action can be profound.
NEXT STEPS
COACHING vs. THERAPY
In simplistic terms, a therapist's role is to heal the wounds of the past, and a life coach supports you in moving your life forward. Coaching does not focus on “why,” but “what's next?” It shifts the client from a problem focused to solution based approached.
Coaching is well suited to a goal-oriented person who prefers to make choices and take responsibility for their processes and outcomes.
COACHING AS AN OPTION
Life coaching is a refreshing approach to personal and professional growth that helps you achieve specific goals and make your unique contributions with focus and ease. Coaching trains you to stop biting the hook that gets you stuck in old dramas, stressful interactions, and emotional suffering. Instead, you learn to shift your attention into the present moment, focus on the intentions that hold meaning and value to you, and take effective action.
A coach supports you to define your goals, and stay on target towards achieving them by taking regular, manageable steps that lead to satisfaction in all areas of your life. Be more effective with time and money. Enjoy greater physical vitality. Be more creative and adventurous. Have stronger relationships. In just a few sessions, you will gain clarity, confidence and renewed vision.
Coaching empowers you with simple pragmatic tools so that your life experience expands. Daily tasks become rewarding, and interactions with others become authentic. Would you like your life to be easier and more fulfilling? All it takes is a choice to begin. Call a coach today and get started.

CREATE A CHOICE
Carmen Isais, MA
There is no school that teaches how to be assertive and successful in life. Society and modern culture oftentimes demand that we focus on external endeavors, perhaps even to the extent of neglecting our genuine desires and gifts. But, life and the universe shows us that there is no way to heal and grow without being truthful and loyal to ourselves.
Professional coaching allows us to explore ourselves and identify the blind spots of denial, avoidance, codependency or any other distorted way of shaping and experiencing ourselves and lives, taking into account concrete proven tools and acknowledging our own individuality, longings and needs. Whatever stage of the path you find yourself at today, I can serve as a guide toward making meaningful choices that simplify and enrich your life.
Simply put, I offer fast, result orientated solutions to your problems. My cognitive and empathic approach can help you gain clarity
and find direction. As a Life Coach I genuinely listen to my clients and give honest feedback. Personal emotions are valid, but sometimes based on faulty belief systems.
Let me bring to your life a new perspective. I help my clients identify personal, business and relationship goals, then develop realistic, practical strategies and action plans. Not only do I teach with specific insights and skills to empower the client toward their intent... I move my clients from intent to action. Indeed, unless you marry intention to action, you end up with only a brief affair.

When each person within the organization understands their impact on the entire organization and commits to contributing in a productive and meaningful manner, company cultures, attitudes, productivity and dedication can be radically transformed. It is my intention, therefore, to support leaders, employees, teams and organizations to develop their potential and build competencies, skills and awareness to generate positive change within the organization, as well as, their professional and personal lives. Because the process often leads to an integration of personal and professional values, many people experience not only increased professional success but also increased personal effectiveness and satisfaction.
His coaching philosophy is based on a deep-seated belief that each person holds the key for his or her success, whether in work, business or relationships. Along with formal psychology models and proven coaching techniques, Lee Ockenden is flexible and direct, calling upon a myriad of techniques, each specific to the client, organization, and/or situation.
Peaslee F. Dumont, M.D.
Are you a high-functioning person who sometimes feels anguish of your soul?
Are you looking to release the hidden energy that comes with the flow state?
Is age or illness, anxiety or accident, blocking you from being who you truly are?
Most of our blockages come from fear. And most fear is a perception that our deepest self is not OK in the world---that we have to be perfect, or have to meet somebody elses standard and conform to their demands. It takes insight and courage to unveil your own uniqueness and discover what you have come into this life to be and do.
As a Medical Doctor with 35 years experience counseling people about illness, and a deep attunement to the life of body, mind, and spirit, I am offering a Life Coaching process that opens you to your full potential. Find the peace of living your true path. Feel the joy of unblocking energy in your life!
***All my life I have explored the mysteries of Spirit, and the relationship of science and the humanities. My BA from Yale in 1964 studied Biochemistry and English Literature. A year in India compared Christianity and Eastern spirituality.
At Stanford I earned an MA in Cultural Anthropology, then graduated from Stanford Medical School. A Family Practice residency in London, Ontario, Canada was training in counseling and social context as well as in physical medicine.
Since 1978 I have been practicing Family Medicine in Vacaville, California. Through the American Holistic Medical Association and constant exploration of the relation of medicine to Spirit, my practice has evolved into Integrative Family Medicine.
I can hear, deeply, any brokenness you bring in your life; but what I want to help you uncover is your un-brokenness, your wholeness. This is why, and how, my medicine is holistic.
I have the knowledge to explain your illnesses and advise you on conventional or alternative therapies, but it is my passion to listen and respond to who you are in your uniqueness, your problems and your potentials, and to catalyze the reshaping of the drama of your life into the performance of your lifetime.
Barry Orvell, M.D.
What I Do
I am a primary care physician and a part time artist. My medium is painting. This allows me to create any kind of world I choose. By practicing painting I have found a key to understanding deeper aspects of myself and to have a more balanced life. I paint in the moment and spontaneously so that judgment and planning are minimized. I have found that teaching painting in this way can help a person touch deeply into there sense of self and help answer the question 'who am I'.
As a physician, I have always enjoyed spending extra time with each person trying to understand their lives and as well as their physical dilemmas. To my patients, I have been a person who is always an interested listener.Listening carefully is one of the main qualities in a counselor which clients find of value. People feel best when they are satisfied that they are "understood'.
My training has included a two year course in Psychosynthesis. This is a form of psychotherapy developed 60 years ago by a student of Freud by the name of Roberto Assagioli. Among the techniques I use is guided imagery and what are called visits to my wise old man. When a person is conflicted with opposing and incompatible yearnings, it helps to take a view from above. From this vantage one can access ones Higher Self and gain perspective and wisdom.
Another area of special interest is retirement. Since my own retirement 3 years ago I have heard many storiesfrom other retirees who feel a sense of grief and uncertainty about the future. For some retirement is very stressful and devoid of meaning. This is particularly poignant now where that all important security we have spent a life time nurturing seems to have disappeared in the current major recession. What is the purpose of retirement and how does it serve our own purpose in life? Is there really such a thing as retirement, that is, can you retire from the life you have been leading up to now? What does retirement tell us about the reality of our own mortality?
Life coaching is really an interaction between two people in seach of a meaning and direction to life. There are no right or wrong directions. But a coach can provide valuable feedback and help you avoid some obvious mistakes of impulse or in not seeing the implication of a decision
In summary, my areas of interest are creativity, life transitions such as retirement, health issues and body/mind/spirit interactions. I remain available at 707 452 9245 or through Life compass.
